City Center Las Vegas
Not long ago City Center Las Vegas was still in its construction stages and for a while it was touch and go as to whether it would be completed or become another casualty of the recession.
Incredibly, the massive project which is also referred to as 'the future of Las Vegas,' opened on 16th December 2009, based on the site that used to be home to the Boardwalk Hotel and Casino.

Where is it?
You can find the Center between Harmon Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard dwarfing the
Monte Carlo
and the
Bellagio.
It cost $11 billion to create and was designed by four of the world's top architects. City Center Las Vegas is in fact the largest privately funded development in America. The project was started by MGM Mirage who were joined by Dubai World.
We were lucky enough to visit it at the beginning of January 2010 and on our next trip we’ll definitely think about staying at Aria as the Center's an absolutely magnificent development in a great location:
Aria
The Aria Resort and Casino
contains 4,004 rooms and a 150,000 sq ft casino. This is the only casino you'll find in the Center as it places a heavier emphasis on shopping, hotels and leisure rather than gambling.

Vdara
Vdara Las Vegas
is a hotel-condo that contains 1,495 residential units.
Mandarin Oriental
The Mandarin has a mixture of hotel rooms and residences.
Harmon
The Harmon Hotel and Spa hasn’t been finished yet but should be ready in the later part of 2010. It will have 400 rooms but no casino.
Veer Towers
You can’t miss the
Veer Towers.
The twin towers which contain residential units look like they’re about to topple over, leaning in opposite directions.

Crystals
The Crystals is a really slick shopping and entertainment area containing top designer stores such as Louis Vuitton and Tiffany & Co, restaurants and night clubs such as Eva Longora Parker's Eve Nightclub which is 8,000 square foot which is already frequented by
celebrities.

Be warned, you'll need a pretty big wallet to purchase anything from the stores in Crystals!
Conveniently a tram connects Crystals to the Monte Carlo and Bellagio.
Does it have many restaurants?
As you'd expect, there is a number of eateries in the development. Have a look at
our restaurant directory
to decide where you might like to eat.
How big is the Center?
City Center Las Vegas is large enough to warrant a number of support structures including a parking garage which holds 6,900 cars and a Fire Center. The taxi driver who picked us up from the airport pointed out its huge power box!
To give you some idea of the scale of the Center, the site's 76 acres and is expected to provide at least 12,000 jobs. It’s so big that it’s easy to get lost in. It took us a while to find our way out from Crystals. So allow plenty of time to explore it properly!
