Carrot Top Las Vegas is one of the most controversial current Las Vegas shows. Our friend Shaun Moggan recently caught his act...

I finally got around to seeing Carrot Top for the first time on my sixth trip to Sin City. That was my mistake as this was a real treat.
For those of you from the UK think a rude Lee Evans on steroids with props and lots of red hair.
So many jokes
The jokes came thick and fast (Mr Top has great energy) and the overwhelming majority hit the target. I cracked up with laughter within the first few seconds as he told a joke about the amount of walking that visitors to Vegas have to do.
He used music creatively throughout his routine and that first sketch was accompanied by the sound of 'I would walk 500 miles' by the Proclaimers, an apt song for Vegas if I ever heard one!
Not for children!
At times the humour was very adult (nothing wrong there as it is one of the adult shows in Las Vegas) and I thought the prop used to demonstrate the Hugh Hefner zimmer frame was both rude and ingenious in equal measures.
Free drinks
I was already completely sold on the show when Mr Top produced a bottle of Brandy (or something similar) from a bucket which had been dropped from the ceiling. He asked the audience, "Who wants a drink?" Well it would have been rude to say no.
I was sitting in the front row and he walked down from the stage and poured me a stiff one.
Now that's what I call a show when the artist personally serves you hard liquor during the performance. I drank it down in one and enjoyed the rest of the show all the more.
Topical humour
The jokes came so quickly it's hard to recall them all but another that stood out for me was Carrot Top running around a darkened stage with a flash light to the sound of U2 playing 'I still haven't found what I'm looking for' in the background. This lasted for all of 6 seconds which will give you an idea of the pace of the show.
The humour was topical, the jokes fast flowing, the props imaginative and the background music creative. Oh and this man is funny. That's Funny with a captial F.
Carrot Top deserves his place as a mainstay of the Vegas Entertainment scene. I loved this show and you should go see it next time you are in town.
