If you can do without the glitz and glamour of the Strip hotels and don’t mind rubbing shoulders with toothless vagrants book to stay at one of the cheap hotels in Las Vegas NV’s Downtown area.

It’s only 1.5 miles from the Strip so you won’t be far from the rest of the action and there’s a regular bus service which runs between the Downtown district and the Strip.

The Downtown area is the original gambling part of Sin City where the Rat Pack used to frequent and where today you’ll find the Fremont Street Experience, one of the city’s free attractions.

As the Strip’s rapidly developed in recent years the Downtown district has become its poorer cousin so there are some great deals to be had here at the city’s older hotels.
