Christmas in Las Vegas 2011
Tips on spending the holidays in Las Vegas
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Las Vegas... And a lot of this is down to the hotels which look even more spectacular at this time of year - if you can believe that’s possible - with fantastic decorations everywhere from giant wreaths to silver Christmas trees.

Weather at Christmas in Las Vegas
Good King Wenceslas looked out
On the feast of Stephen.
When the snow lay round about,
Deep and crisp and even...
Well, probably not in Las Vegas in December when you can generally expect lows of 39°F and highs of 57°F. It does sometimes snow in Las Vegas but it doesn’t usually settle. Night times can be quite chilly so your best bet is to pack lots of layers when spending Christmas in Las Vegas or plan to
hit the shops
once you arrive.
Some great Las Vegas Things to do
on Christmas Day in Las Vegas 2011
What’s open and what’s not during Christmas in Las Vegas? You might first assume that a lot will be closed on Christmas Day but that’s just not the case. This is a great city to be in for Christmas as there is so much to do.
Mandalay Bay Shark Reef Aquarium
open 365 days
Madame Tussauds open until 10pm on Christmas Eve and until 5pm on Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve.
Siegfried and Roy's Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat
open 10am – 5pm
Stratosphere Observation Deck
The Penske-Wynn Ferrari Maserati Showroom
is closed on Christmas Day but on 30th December entry is free of charge.
The cost of visiting all the great attractions Las Vegas has to offer can really add to the cost of your trip. To help
keep costs down we usually get a
Las Vegas Power Pass With it you’ll have
access to over 20 attractions, tours, rides etc. The Power Pass is
worth more than $500 in admissions and discounts.
Helicopter Ride to the Grand Canyon
Helicopter tours of the Grand Canyon
are one of the most memorable things you can do at any time of year. We will never ever forget landing right in the heart of the Canyon.

If you’re going to be spending Christmas in Las Vegas and are looking to make Christmas Day one to remember forever forego the turkey and book a helicopter tour. We’ve had fantastic experiences with Maverick Helicopters who’ve been awarded two of the Travel Channel’s 10 Best Helicopter Thrills.
On the 25th December tours will not be operating from the South Rim terminal. Most of the tours will be running except from Indian Territory, the Maverick Rafting, the Canyon Dream, and the Canyon Spirit.
Both the South and West Rims are breathtaking at this time of year. If you’re planning on taking a trip to the Grand Canyon after Christmas in January for the best experience possible either plump for the West Rim tours or take one of the early morning tours as the South Rim can sometimes get a little foggy.

Winter in Venice
If you were hoping for more of a Good King Wenceslas wintery Christmas experience head to the
Venetian
and the
Palazzo
which have been transformed into a magical winter wonderland for the Christmas period. As well as sampling festive treats from eggnog cupcakes to hot chocolates to can don a pair of skates and take to the ice between 11am and 11pm every day.
For an extra special perspective on Winter in Venice take a trip on the
outdoor Gondola Ride.
You’ll be taken right through the heart of festivities along the canals and be able to take in the fabulous lights, skaters on the ice rink and all the holiday characters milling around. The Gondola Ride will be open during normal business hours on 25th December.
Vegas is always teaming with celebrities and if you keep your eyes peeled during Christmas in Las Vegas there’s a good chance you’ll spot one but if you fancy taking it to the next level and say audition for Simon Cowell or marry George Clooney then get over to Madame Tussauds at
the Venetian
where you can do all these things.
From 27th December Madame Tussauds will be hosting the MICHAEL JACKSON EXPERIENCE which includes waxworks of Michael Jackson from different points in his career.

Fountains of Bellagio
The
Fountains of Bellagio
shows are iconic and a great thing to watch at any time of year. But at Christmastime some of the shows have a festive theme. Get in to the Christmas spirit with Carol of the Bells, O Holy Night, It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas, Sleigh Ride, Santa Baby and more.
