Caesars Hotel Las Vegas is one of the best hotels in Las Vegas and one of our personal favourites and we’re in good company ... apparently President Barak Obama's likes to stay here too.

As seen on screen

If like me you’re a Friends fan you’ll remember Caesars Palace Hotel from ‘The One in Vegas’ where the friends fly to Vegas to visit Joey who’s dressed as a gladiator, working at Caesars Palace Hotel. Caesars has also appeared in a number of films.

About Caesars Palace

The roman theme that runs throughout the place is nice, not overdone, with beautiful landscapes and fountains in the hotel and grounds.

The Super Caesars Palace opened in 1966 and has more than 3,000 rooms. There are five towers: Forum, Palace, Centurion, Roman and Augustus. Before we stayed here we'd been told that rooms in the Augustus Tower are the best; new, beautifully decorated and quite big.

So on one of our recent visits to Vegas we stayed in the Augustus Tower and it didn't disappoint. We were offered a room upgrade for $50 a night which gave us a junior suite which was really spacious. I still miss the jacuzzi in the bathroom!

As with the other hotels on the Strip you can queue for a while to check in at busy times. We arrived on a Saturday night and had to wait 40 minutes. The queue looked shorter on weekdays during the day so if you're not tied to plane flight times it's best to avoid peak times for arrival unless you want to stand in line.

There are three decent-sized swimming pools and two whirlpools at Caesars Palace Hotel. Drinks at the pool are pricey but in line with the other hotels.

Where to eat

There are so many Caesars Palace Restaurants that you’ll have multiple dining options to choose from including fine dining restaurants and cafes located within the hotel itself and Caesars Palace Forum Shops We’re big fans of The Cheesecake Factory and the Planet Hollywood Restaurant.

Shopping

We’ve spent such a lot of time here in both the restaurants and the shops which have impressive spiral escalators that take you between levels.

Minutes quickly turn into hours wandering in and out of the 120 stores in the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace and the Appian Way featuring designers such as Louis Vitton and Cartier (and also many more affordable shops such as Banana Republic.)

Caesars Palace Entertainment and Attractions

Pure nightclub can be found at Caesars. Steffi Graf, Andre Agassi, Shaquille O’Neal and Celine Dion all have a stake in it. It’s worth a visit for its magnificent views of the Strip.

You’ve probably heard of the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, which is state-of-the-art and seats over 4,000 people. It's famous for hosting world-class performers such as Frank Sinatra, Celine Dion and Mariah Carey. This is the place to go to see a great show! Bette Midler was performing while we were there. (See our Celebrity Spotting page for images of Bette at her book signing.)

But if you’re on a shoestring budget forget the Colosseum and instead visit some of the free Caesars Palace shows such as the Fall of Atlantis, which is suitable for all the family. You can get a good view of it from the Cheesecake Factory and Fat Tuesday.

Transport

Caesars Hotel Las Vegas is in a central location on the Strip, situated between the Bellagio Casino in Las Vegas and the Mirage so it’s easy to get to the other hotels on foot. Plus there’s a free shuttle to the Rio which is on Flamingo road.
