Why a helicopter tour?
Helicopter tours of the Grand Canyon, particularly with Maverick Helicopters, aren’t just a favourite of ours but also of our friends and family who like to visit Las Vegas.
There’s something really magical about taking a helicopter trip over the Grand Canyon
(which is actually in Arizona.)
For one thing you get such an amazing perspective of this breathtaking National Park.
There aren’t really words to describe the sense of perfect peace right down on the floor of the canyon looking up at the red rocky peaks; it’s something you need to experience for yourself and an experience that bus tours to the Grand Canyon just can’t offer.
This is why we truly feel that a helicopter trip is the best Grand Canyon tour you can do.
Why travel to the Grand Canyon with Maverick Helicopters?
When you decide to take one of the helicopter Grand Canyon tours you need to feel confident that you’re in safe hands.
The safety record of Maverick Helicopters was one of the most important things to us when we were looking around at the helicopter tours we could take.
All our friends and family who have also flown with them had a great time and felt completely safe in the hands of their skilled pilots.
Their Grand Canyon tours are from Las Vegas. They pick you up from your hotel and take you back afterwards.
Why should you take a Sunset tour of the Grand Canyon?
Sunset helicopter tours of the Grand Canyon are some of the most popular available.
Our friends Michelle and Simone took one on their last trip to Las Vegas as part of Simone’s birthday celebrations and couldn’t recommend it enough. Looking at all these breathtaking pictures that Michelle took it’s easy to see why.
There’s something so special about watching the sun go down over this stunning world heritage site that will stay with you forever.
Which of the Sunset helicopter tours of the Grand Canyon should I choose?
Maverick Helicopters alone offers a number of different sunset tours which vary in cost and length so you should be able to find a Grand Canyon tour package to suit you.

Some of the Grand Canyon Tour Options
Wind Dancer Sunset Landing Tour
This is similar to the
Wind Dancer Air and Landing Tour
that we love so much but at a different time of day. On this tour you’re flown over Lake Mead, the Hoover Dam and Fortification Hill. The helicopter then lands in the Grand Canyon in Hualapai Indian Territory so that you can enjoy the scenery with a glass of champagne and snacks.
On the way back you’ll fly over the Bowl of Fire and also get a different perspective of Downtown Vegas and the Las Vegas Strip and see all the hotels lit up at night. The whole tour takes about four and a half hours and costs $519. Further details
Dream Catcher Sunset Tour
This is one of Maverick Helicopters’ most popular tours. It takes a slightly different route from the Wind Dancer tour heading out from Las Vegas to the Hidden Valley and the Valley of Fire.
The helicopter lands in Grand Canyon so you can take in the views along with champagne and snacks before flying you back over the Strip offering views of iconic hotels such as the
Bellagio
Casino in Las Vegas,
Luxor
hotel in Vegas and
Paris hotel
in Vegas. This tour also takes four and a half hours but is slightly more expensive than Wind Dancer at $559.Further details
Grand Canyon Landing Sunset Tour
This tour takes you over Lake Mead, Hoover Dam and Fortification Hill and lands in the Grand Canyon next to the awe inspiring Colorado River, which carved out the Grand Canyon over millions of years. This tour is slightly shorter than Wind Dancer and Dream Catcher at four hours and costs £454 which includes champagne and snacks. Further details

Silver Cloud Sunset Air Tour
If four hours plus is too long for you and the previous tours are out of your price range consider the Silver Cloud Sunset Air Tour which takes three and a half hours and costs $449. This is perfect if you just want to gain an eagle’s eye view of the Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon as it doesn’t land in the Canyon. Further details
