Will my UK passport be sufficient or do I need to carry something else like a driving licence?

Answer: Acceptable ID in Las Vegas casinos and hotels
by: Victoria & Martyn

Hi

Thanks for contacting us.

Unfortunately photocopies aren't accepted. New York New York Hotel & Casino has this advice about ID to use in Las Vegas casinos and hotels:

"If you are traveling internationally you can use your Driver's License, but it must have date of birth on it. If you do not have a valid Driver's License, a passport is the next best thing, but photocopies are not accepted."

Hope this helps.

Best wishes

Victoria & Martyn

Can you take a photocopy of your passport into the Las Vegas casinos and hotels, rather than carry your original passport?

Too right!

They let you board an aeroplane with a passport so the Las Vegas casinos and hotels shouldn't have a problem!

Answer: Will the Las Vegas casinos and hotels accept my passport as a form of ID?

Hi Alan

Thanks for your enquiry.

Las Vegas casinos and hotels will accept your passport as a form of ID. In fact a passport is generally the best form of ID to use.

Gaming laws are strict in Las Vegas. You need to be 21 to check in to most of the hotels on the Strip and under 21s aren?t allowed in the casinos at all.

Hotel staff at the Las Vegas casinos and hotels are trained to ID anyone who looks under 30 so if you look young it?s best to carry your passport with you when you?re out and about. You?ll need it with you anyway if you?re using traveller?s cheques.

Caesars Hotel Las Vegas and a number of the other hotels take part in something called Project 21. As part of the project they state:

?All Caesars employees are trained to card individuals who appear to be below the age of 30, as well as ways to detect potentially invalid identification. If a minor is trying to gamble under false identification, our security officers will intervene and may contact outside law enforcement. We want all of our customers to have an enjoyable time at our properties, but we will not condone breaking the law. We Care. We Card.® And we will take action.?

Nightclubs tend to accept other forms of photo ID if you?d rather not take your passport out with you at night.

Best wishes

Victoria & Martyn
